10 timed paintings

These images are paintings that I did in a short space of time. I wanted to explore unconventional portraiture and thought this would be a good way to test it. The idea was to do 10 paintings, but only allowing 10 minutes on each one. They also had to be on random objects/ places around the studio such as walls, chairs etc.

I was really pleased with the outcome. I liked the idea of doing random famous faces on unexpected objects. This could be interpreted in many different ways. Such as the person being so influential they change the way we perceive the world. Or for the more infamous faces, it could be seen that they don't deserve to be immortalized on a canvas so instead they get painted on less glamorous objects such as bins.

This is the way I want to take my painting project and I'm going to continue exploring this idea.

Miley Cyrus on plastic wallet

Charlie Chaplain on a wall

Elvis Presley on the back of a chair

Lady GaGa on a piece on scrap of metal

George Bush on the side of a sink

Adolf Hitler on a bin

Kanye West on the bottom of a chair

Osama bin Laden on a door

Prince Philip on a plastic bag

Queen Elizabeth II on the floor

Jumper

I wanted to paint something more abstract, so I decided to explore a different path for my project and look at the idea of possessions defining a person. This painting is a close up of a jumper I own. As I was painting I wasn't happy with how it was looking so I ended up making up my own pattern inspired by my jumper.

I wouldn't want to continue with this path but I'm glad I explored it, so I could eliminate that idea.

Black and White

This is a large scale black and white painting I did of a close up image of an ear. The final piece is a collage of two paintings, produced using different mediums of ways to paint. While I'm not sure about the end result I enjoyed working in black ad white and would hopefully like to carry this practice on somehow.

Form

The initial idea I have for my paint project is looking at the human form. Maybe doing close up paintings of human skin and features. This painting of a hand is just a sample, to see whether  would like to continue with this idea or not.
